Gold Coast

The Gold Coast stretches along the shoreline from Leahi Beach Park to Kaimana Beach, tucked at the base of Diamond Head and just beyond Waikiki. It's the only pocket of the area with true beachfront condo living, a slim run of oceanfront buildings set among canoe clubs, low-key beach restaurants, and a few storied hotels. Kaimana Beach draws locals for a morning swim or workout, Tongg's Beach nearby is a well-known foiling spot, and monk seals turn up on the sand more often than you'd expect. Sunsets here are some of the best on Oahu, and the coastline is dotted with small, hidden beaches most visitors never find. Behind it all, Kapiolani Park opens into a wide green space with the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. Long considered an insider's address, Gold Coast is where Kahala's wealthiest families have put up friends and in-laws for generations: a calm, prestigious stretch of little historic homes and low-rise condos with a character all its own.
